Nude lipstick has been the trend for a while now, and it doesn’t look like it’ll be leaving anytime soon. I’m so here for it!
I love a natural makeup look. Any sort of “your lips but better” lip color I can find I’m on it. Typically I gravitate toward more mauve/brown nudes. A pink nude lipstick is cute, and I can honestly live without the paler, peachy options. they’re not really my taste.
As a dark skinned woman, it can be harder to find the perfect nude shade that just works, you know? They’re either too pink, too pale, not dark enough, or just plain awkward. The ones that I have for you today work perfectly for brown skin. Some of them get the glorious “no liner needed” stamp of approval.[clickToTweet tweet=”Ready to be enlightened brown girl? For my dark skin tone, this is one of the nude lipstick shades I’ve found at the drugstore so far! I have no need for a lip liner whatsoever! I can really just glide it on and I’m set. It feels so creamy and smooth on my lips, almost like a balm, but not quite. It lasts for a good amount of time, and even when I eat or drink the color isn’t smeared, bleeding terribly, or completely washed off. I love to top it with bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie gloss.
Milani kills it with their lip products! Matter of fact, I haven’t yet tried any Milani product across the board that I didn’t like. Their matte lipsticks remind me so much of MAC, from the colors to the vanilla scent. They’re pigmented with a beautiful opacity, the color selection is fantastic, and the wear time of the lipsticks is impressive. They are my go-to lipsticks for everyday wear and special events.
NYX Intense Butter Glosses in Tres Leche, Chocolate Crepe, and Peanut Brittle
NYX makes some of the best affordable lip makeup on the market. They have a huge range of different colors, and the intense butter gloss is the best in the drugstore when it comes to opacity, longevity, texture and formula. If you want you lips to look nice and juicy with vibrant color payoff, they’re the best choice. These colors are the absolute best brown girl friendly nude lipstick shades that are affordable.
All of these work amazing with my NYX brown lip liner. I love NYX’s liners because they’re very cheap and make a great dupe for MAC’s lip liners. If you’re a medium brown to rich brown skin tone, this will look work on you.
I’ll be honest: when I first grabbed this shade, i was a bit turned off because I wasn’t used to THIS kind of nude. It’s a good “your lips but better’, but it’s sort of a light “your lips but better” on me. The color grew on me and now I adore it. The lipstick itself has a very smooth and creamy finish. The colors are very vibrant and this one is flattering when paired with a lip liner.
Here’s another favorite from Milani. Their matte lip creams are really nice, and come in a good range of colors that work for many different skin tones. The color “Velvet” is an everyday favorite of mine. It’s described as a “brown terracotta”, which i right up my alley. I love terracotta like lip shades. This one is lovely with a brown lip liner for me, and I love topping it with a clear gloss.
These lipsticks are considerably less drying than many other liquid lipsticks I’ve tried. That’s probably why they’re named “satin” matte lip creams. Anyway, Milani has some pretty great options in general, and I’ll be sharing a post exclusively reviewing more of their products soon.
This nude lipstick shade is perfect for black girls! It’s subtle warm brown with pink undertones is very flattering on my dark skin tone. This option can pass without a lip liner for alot of deeper skin tones, but it’s based on your preference. I find that I can go without with this one. Besides the gorgeous color, it’s less than $10, it doesn’t fade through the day, and it’s very moisturizing for the lips. This brown girl friendly nude is definitely a winner.
See? It’s totally doable to find a good nude lipstick shade that’s suitable for deep skin tones, WITHOUT having to break the bank. I hope you’ll consider picking up one of these the next time you take a trip to Ulta or the drugstore. I promise you that you will not be disappointed!
