Searching for the best makeup setting spray for your skin type is certainly a smart move. If you’ve found your holy grail, I congratulate you, because we all know how hard that is to do! If you’re still in search for a great facial mist and setting spray for your skin type, then you’ve clicked on the right blog post!

I’ve got oily skin all the way, although I’m beginning to think it’s more on the combo/oily side right now. It does this weird thing around the change of the seasons, especially in summer and winter. So when I wear makeup, I definitely need a good setting spray with all the powder I have to use. Makeup setting spray really does help make the look come together and helps the final outcome look that much better.

Regardless of your skin type or makeup preferences, I’ve got something for everybody!

Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray

Hence the name, this makeup setting spray was formulated to offer longevity and security for all day and night wear. This helps keep makeup locked in place for hours. Many, many hours, with very little need for touch ups. It’s suitable to use for all skin types, but for my oily skin girls, this one’s going to be a life saver! Oily skin types that struggle with keeping makeup from slipping and sliding off through the day will benefit the most from this option. It yields significant results when it comes to longevity and keeping everything locked in for extended lengths of time. It’s a cult favorite among  those who need extended, uninterrupted wear time. Just a few sprays of this will do, but if you’re an over sprayer, well, expect your makeup to be stuck on like glue!

Milani Make It Last Setting Spray

Milani kills it in drugstore beauty, from their packaging to their products. They deserve their own boutique for sure. The Milani blushes and lipsticks are my favorites from their line. Now I can include this facial mist and setting spray to the mix. It has a similar mist to the Urban Decay in my opinion. It feels cool and refreshing on the skin and has helped increase wear time considerably. It doesn’t leave any weird droplets and has an airy mist that feels almost luxurious. I highly recommend this as a budget friendly option for those with any skin type.

Tatcha Dewy Skin Mist

Although not necessarily designed solely for wearing makeup, this facial mist is such a great alternative for those who love a dewy, glowing skin-like finish for their makeup. It leaves an absolutely beautiful and youthful glow that resembles an almost wet skin look. Ideal for normal or drier skin types, although it’s perfectly safe for oily skin types used in moderation. This is a skin care product that’s meant to increase hydration levels, adding a plumpness and softness to the skin. Use to help prime the skin right before makeup application and mist on right after completing your makeup look for the prettiest, supple and most radiant skin of your life!

Find this product on the Tatcha website, at Sephora or on Amazon

MAC Fix + Facial Mist and Setting Spray

A classic choice among makeup lovers, this option will never fail you. Mac Fix Plus Use it before, after and even during your makeup application to keep things blended seamlessly. Mac boasts this product as their “ultimate multitasker” that hydrates, primes, sets makeup, refreshes makeup, and more. No doubt that Mac Fix+ is the all purpose makeup setting spray that remains the #1 choice for makeup enthusiasts and pro artists alike.

Speaking of multi-tasking, it’s also excellent to use for dampening brushes and sponges for makeup application. Personally I love using this for applying any foiled or satin eyeshadows to make them stand out that much more. Mac Fix plus now has several varieties of this multi-purpose mist, such as Mac Fix Plus Magic Radiance, which features more skincare benefits.

You can grab your own Mac Fix+ all on the MAC website, Ulta and Amazon

Heritage Store Rosewater

Technically not a makeup setting spray, I find this one in particular to be superb for makeup application. It’s awesome for prepping the skin before makeup, using right after any powder application to help it melt into the skin, and for refreshing. Taking one along for light misting throughout the day will keep your makeup looking fresh, blended and maintain a natural looking radiance. The ingredients are super simple with no added dyes, fragrance, essential oils or fillers. This is an excellent choice for sensitive skin types as well. You can find the Heritage Store Rosewater on Amazon and at Ulta.

Caudalie Beauty Elixir

I think this product having 50K loves on Sephora says it all. Let’s include the fact that this is one of Lisa Eldriges’ personal favorites! This is awesome to use both as a facial mist and setting spray for makeup. This solves issues of dryness, clogged, enlarged pores, and dullness or uneven skin tone. Use this as part of your skin care routine, to set and refresh makeup, or even to soothe skin as an aftershave for men! It smells like mint and feels very cool and refreshing (that seems to be the trend for these facial mists and setting sprays, rightfully so!)

I can’t seem to find a setting spray that actually helps keep my makeup on any longer than without it. I’ve tried a few and want to try the UD All Nighter but curious if it will be any better than their original setting spray :/ Great post xx

I had no idea some of these even existed! UD is my go-to. I’ve also heard great things about the Milani one but its never in stock at stores near me 🙁 You should try the Mario Badescu Rosewater spray!

I tried the Mario one, and couldn’t for the life of me figure out why I was breaking out! I found out after reading the label that there are quite a few irritants in it, which don’t mix well with my sensitive, problematic skin.
Smells amazing, just isn’t amazing on my face lol
I’m actually about to DIY some rosewater and share it here!
